I was given a Compaq computer with win 98 installed. It was used on a network. When booted the user name appears asking for the password. None was assigned and I get to Desktop by entering "ESC' - How do I get completly out of Family Network or deleted the user sign on screen?

Go to CONTROL PANEL and click on the NETWORK icon. Highlight CLIENT FOR MICROSOFT NETWORKS and click on REMOVE. In the small window called PRIMARY NETWORK LOGON, open the window and click on WINDOWS LOGON, then click on OK. Keep your win98 disk handy the computer will ask for it.
