Although my problem is minor it is irritating.
My monitor is set to show 16-bit colour via an NVidia 32Mb GeForce2 card but the desktop icons appear using only 16 colours. (Icon files have more than 16 colours).
Computer is a P4, 1.8GHz, 256Mb RAM running Win2000 Pro.

Helpful responses gratefully accepted.

Go to CONTROL PANEL\DISPLAY\EFFECTS and check the box marked SHOW ICONS USING ALL POSSIBLE COLORS. If it's already checked uncheck it and after reboot check it again.

Thanks C,

Solution worked for .ico icons but had no effect on icons found in .exe files. Surely they can't all be 16 colours or less?

Ciao.

I've never checked into it before, but as far as I can tell .exe icons are 16 color. By the way you're welcome.
