Sound card drivers or a conflict with another device causes the exclamation mark. I don't believe I have ever seen a VGA sound card unless your card is somehow integrated with the video card. A little more info would be appreciated at this point like what type of sound card you have as well as operating system and other cards installed that may be causing a conflict.

Today(2-5-03) I looked at my sound stuff(device manager)and it did'nt say anything was wrong with
it.As i feeled with joy i poped in a cd to still
here no sound.I go back to device manager to
make sure I was right with what I have seen.(i was
) now the "!" is gone and so still is my sound.
My computer is running on windows98.
As for sound cards have to tell you later.

Are you sure that you have the correct driver installed for your sound card? Also, check the interrupts and see if they are conflicting.
