Hello, green fingers at the computer lingo. but I do know this... picked up Sharp AJ-1800 at good will ($30) came with disk. sounds mechanically functional. but I am unable to install driver throug Start>settings>printers> add a printer Icon. It seems that the model printer is not listed, maybe came out after win 98 . there is an option that cliks "have disk?". go there , then it says" source to retrive info from(something to that effect). when I click "ok" It says the informatin is not at that location". Maybe me thinks the driver aint on the disk( unlikely) and download driver direct from sharp. now when I open the driver file from my documents it asks where to "unzip" file to?
I dont even know what unzip is , so I just keep bouncin the file around, if there is a specific folder I should place in , I don't know but maybe one of you capables could help,
Thanx

Lil'boot here,
Actually a friend popped over, apparently I coulda done it weeks ago. the printer did not recognize the proper path because it was not specified, (I thought I put it right, but computers have their own level of understanding I suppose) well the friend curcumvented this problem by copying the file name adress out of the D exploerer "URL" window. and somehow it went through. but hes real chinsy on 411 so Ill still be around here.
This is only my second time here, but let me remind you this place is made by you and me, sensible people looking for sensible solutions . zip is when lots of files is compressed into one small easy to handle one. unzip is when you put the lots of files back on the hard disk in their original format and directory structure. you can zip all the files in your computer into one zip file. and then unzip it on someone else's.. anywhere.
