I recently reloaded win 98 on my computer as it was taking too long to run any programs and now it keeps freezing up on start up. It reloaded up okay with no problems but when I restsrted the pc it keeps stopping at the win 98 screen. Could it be the hard drive? as this was very very slow before. Thanks for any help given. |

Have you tried deleting items in the startup. ie Click on Start, click on Run, type in msconfig, select the Tab Startup.now remove all the ticks. remember all of them, now reboot. Or to check the hard drive.Run Scan Disk. Start the PC press F5 to go into safe mode. (or what F key for your PC)once into safe mode , click start Accessories,system-tools Scan-DISK |

If the above fails, then do the following this will check your Hard drive. It involves downloading to a floppy, from Gateway Computers. You will need the search engine GOOGLE. Once into Google type in GWSCAN, this will take you to sites with information on how to download the program, follow the instructions. Hope this Helps . It did for me.George |
