Have searched the web high and low, no information on this problem:
RPCSS caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 017f:bff7b9a6.
I am running WIN98se.
Cheers,
Stuart

RPCSS is Remote Procedure Call from an NT base. Sounds like perhaps Windows 2000 and WinXP systems aren't the only machines affected in some way by BLAST.32.WORM. Or perhaps you are propagating the worm. Boot up in safe mode and search for msblast.exe if it exists get some antivirus protection. Here is what RPCSS is http://www.cexx.org/rpc.htm

Thanks for answering, I do not have the above worm virus. What I have done to date is replace the the File RPCSS with no avail, checked for corrupt passwords, removed and replaced a corrupt cpl file, still no luck. Will it be wise to replace the kernel32.dll file then reinstall all my other programs?
Cheers, Stuart

Probably not infected as the targets for Blaster is xp and 2k machines but if you don't have a firewall it can still ping your open ports and generally cause problems of the sort you are having. Download and install the free version of zonealarm to see if the problem goes away. If it does than you know the issue is outside the box so to speak. If the Problem remains than a quick trip back here to the forums and I can walk you through a couple of other points to check before replacing DLL files.

Have had Zone Alarm up and running for quite some time, so problem must be with the DLL files ?
Again thanks for taking time out to answer my problems.

Have you tried to run the Version Checker, it's a long shot but you did mention you had a corrupt CPL file.

Another possibility is good RAM gone bad.

The ram is good, as for the version checker, upon starting it I get the response:
Cannot access file as the volume is locked:
Windows\system\Precopy

Still trying, not pulling my hair out yet.
Cheers,
Stuart
