Make: home - built Model: home-built HowOld: 1 Type: AMD K6/500 Amount: 64 Free: 6gb Windows: 98 se Internet: Dialup Internet: internet explorer 6 Running: none Type: none Problem: I'm building a computer, and the motherboard has a 'soft power' system, and I can't get the switch to 'twin pole' to activate the power on the motherboard - is there a way to override the soft power, so it will just boot up from the switch on the ATX power supply Ref #: 1007H0804

If you set the BIOS power (AC Back) to ALWAYS ON then you can use the PSU switch. If the board does not power on when you short the power switch on the motherboard, there is either a short somwhere (ie CONDENSATION) - or a problem with the power supply, or the motherboard. Attach a fan and see if it gets power. If it doesnt boot up, remove all the ide cables, ram, cpu, power from the ide devices, then only plug in one dimm and the cpu. Be sure the fsb is set correctly. Dont be stupid. Think. Have patience. |
