I recently installed a new motherboard (xfx mach 4 845PE-ANT), an new cpu (Intel Pent 4), harddrive, cdburner, and power supply. The problem is I am not getting any sound. In the device manager it is showing up at Avance ac97 and is working properly, but I am still not getting any sound. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them but still not working. I have installed the chipset drivers also. There is nothing muted on the volume control button and the speakers work fine on other devices. Any suggestions?

I searched High and Low on the XFX websight for the sound chip used on your board. From your post I gathered that it is an Avance Logic but know where on the web sight is there a listing of sound drivers. Assuming the drivers are loaded correctly you may just need upgraded speakers as the chipset on board for all Avance Logic chipsets have absolutely no amplification. So headphones are also out of the question due to an impedance mismatch. Realtek is now responsible for Avance Logic support at http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-1.aspx?lineid=8
