my laptop has password request upon boot-up
escape makes it go away and finish boot-up
how can I get rid of this? If I start it and wait for boot-up it stalls there until escape and I have to wait another 30 sec. not much time but anoying

If the Password is for Windows logon than you have to go into control panel under network settings and change the Microsoft Logon setting. It's been years since I have had to deal with 95 settings so some searching around on your part will be needed.
