If you run system repair off the OS CD on a system that has all my software/data configs installed, does it fix XP so that I need to reinstall all my software and reconfig everything afterwards?

I ran a system repair from the OS CD on Windows 2000. Afterwards, I had to reinstall a few of the device drivers (video, sound, etc.) but to my knowledge, I didn't lose any data.

Ditto with XP, you may have to reinstall some updates but your data should remain intact.
