This is a common error when the BIOS has lost some of its settings. Access the system BIOS (possibly by pressing F1 or F2 at boot), and verifing the time, date, drive settings, etc.. are correct. Then save and exit the BIOS. If he still encounters the problem, try it again, and see if the time and date reset itself. If that happens, the battery he installed is not working correctly, or he has it connected improperly. |

Packard Bell used to use CTRL ALT ESC to enter setup, Or CTRL ALT S, if the usual F1 or F2 doesnt work. Also you can go to http://pbsupport.alorica.com/ and request the Configuration tool for you Bios. You must fill out a form with your serial number, etc and they will email it to you, customized to your exact computer (They claim). If you could download it, I would have just emailed it to you, but I cant download it as, like I said, there is a few hoops to jump through and I'm basically lazy :) . Good old Packard Hell, err Bell. Many of these name brand computers come with a dumbed down bios to keep us out. And there is sometimes a seperate peice of software to configure it. Compaq is famous for this, and many of the others do this too, yours may be such a model. If you can't get into your bios, you should go to this website above and fill out the form. Good luck. |
