My Windows NT Workstation started giving error message NTDETECt failed and I repaired it using the ERD . Since then from my desktop My Start Button and Task Bar is missing. Can anybody help me in getting this back.

You have implemented one of two things, both related to each other. Either a system policy has been created or a user profile has been created or re-introduced. (Inadvertent or not, that is your issue.) Since you stated Workstation it is probably a profile. Create a new profile that allows the availabiltity of both the start button and task bar. Got to NTFAQ and search for "profiles". This will be all you need. Have fun.
