When booting my computer I get the error message, "Can't read ESCD", the it continues booting into Windows 98. Any ideas??? |

Just let me verify, does this error occur before you see the "Loading Windows 98" line? |

Yes it appears right after the memory check, then it pauses for about 15 seconds, then the error message appears |

It is some kind of MOBO problem. Make sure your bios settings are correct. Also, more likely, there may be a PCI, ISA, or AGP card that needs to be re-seated in its slot. Or one of your cards is bad, remove them one bye one and try to boot after each. This will narrow things down to the offending device. Good luck, keep is informed, and we will keep helping you ;) |
