My old Pentium 200 based computer system has had the C and D drive running under MS-DOS Compatibility Mode for a while now and I've tried many things to try to correct it. I am running Windows 98 first edition. I ran a bootlog and apparantly the ESDI_506.pdr file is not loading during start up. I was wondering if I am not doing something right because I very much want to get it running normally again.

do you have any dos (real mode) drivers loaded? if so, try and get some windows drivers (virtual device drivers).

Is your CD-ROM working correctly? If not, you may have a boot-sector virus which will cause the same symptoms.

Otherwise, you may want to find updated drivers for your Hard drive controller and reinstall them.
