To make a long story short, my neighbor gave me his old computer. All I want to do with it is to see if I can get it up and running again. The problem is when I started up the computer I received this air message, (No Rom Basic, System Halted). I believe I could cure my problems if I could install Dos, but I don't know how to do it. The problem is, I have DOS on the old floppy 5-1/4 disks, and the software will only let me install in drive A:\. Which is a modern 1.44 drive. I tried switching the drives in the BIOS, but this did not work. I tried using Xcopy, but all I got was wrong DOS version. I know this is pretty vague, but it gets the ball rolling. |

it sounds like the partion on your drive has not been set as active. do you have a boot floppy with fdisk on it? run fdisk and choose option 2 to set active partition. there are pages within this site to help with fdisk and format. hope this helps |
