I start my disk defragmenter. I hit the details button so I can see the disk defragmenter doing its job. Then when the disk defragmenter get like 30% done its start over again. It recover's the 30% that it has all ready done and then it carries on until it want to restart again. The disk defragmenter starts over and over. The last time I recall is that the disk defragmenter doesn't stop until its finish doing its job. I think it restarts its self maybe 7 times. Really confused. Any input would be nice

Defrag will start over if the contents of the drive change. This means that if any other application does any disk writes while defrag is running, you go back to square one. Make sure that no other applications or services are running while you are defragmenting.

Go to control panel/display/screensaver, and change it to none. If the screen saver tries to start it will also restart the defragmenter. I also close the programs in the tray at bootom right of desktop screen.
