I think I did a really stupid thing and I don't know how to get myself out of it. I was referred to a guy to fix my computer. It was at a low price and since he was referred, I thought I'd be okay. He keeps finding things wrong with it and yet he says it's the same price. He's had my pute now for over a week and I'm getting freaked out. The latest thing to be fixed is the motherboard and now I'm wondering how much information he can get from my hard drive. I don't know if he's been messing up and that's why he's replacing stuff or something else is going on. Before I gave it to him, the computer was reformatted twice which I thought wiped finance stuff and now I'm worried. Please.. can anyone help me or give me advice? Thanks.

Could just be a helpful person with extra time on his hands. Is this just some blow joe that dinks with computers or is he a tech with any credentials?

Either way, you should have him explain what the problems are and what exactly he is doing to fix them. Just a learning process. Then you can go online and do some searching on the repair subject, or come post it back here and get multiple opinions.

As far as your data on the drive, did you do the reformatting? Was fdisk included in the process? Hopefully so. Now just breath deep a few times and then ask for details. If he gets defensive...take it home right then.
