Ok, here's my situation. I have built my computer from scratch. Here are the parts: FIC VA-503+ MoBo w/ mvp3 VIA chipset. AMD K6-2 300 mhz processor 3DFX Voodoo3 2000 2x AGP video Diamond Sonic Impact S90 Western Digital 13.0 gig Hard drive 2 64 meg pc-100 Ram (PNY) Creative Dx-R2 5x DVD Rom Creative MPEG Encoder card(packaged with the DVD) Memorew 1622 CD-RW 3Com 3c509-b Ethernet card Zoom 5951(?) 56K internal Modem(not used when I'm at school however.) Now, here's my problem. First off, when I run a benchmark utility I got off the net(SiSoft by Sandra) my computer scores relatively slow. It shows a normal k62-400 w/ 128 meg ram computer, then it shows mine. Mine is way off. Also, my computer lags every so often, most often when I'm doing something with sound. Take a game for instance. When the music restarts, I'll get a slight lag. And then it'll be fine, then it'll lag a little, then be fine, then music will restart, so it'll lag again, and so on. I've tried everything. This has happened since the beginning when I had a Maxtor hard drive a STB velocity 4400 video, Trident sound, noname memory, and a k6-2 333. As stated above, I have upgraded all of these parts. I even tried replacing my sound card, I got a Diamond Monster MX-300. The same thing happened. I don't know what else I could possibly do. I think I've tried just about everything. I have my bios flashed to the latest possible one, all my latest drivers, and my VIA chipset patches, and according to the peripheral companies, all my parts are compatible with the VIA chipset. If anyone an help. Please let me know. Thanks in advance. |

try to take out the drivers for the 3com card. see if that does anything. If your running client for novell or client32 it will make the system boot up slowly. Hopefully this helps |
