Thought I'd upgrade my system with an AMD K6-2 450MHz cpu for my ASUS TX97-XE motherboard. The cpu looks like it says it is 2.4v core. The ASUS site only show settings up thru the 333MHz cpu and the ASUS tech team only keep refering me back to their site. The board doesn't have a setting for that voltage. Should I opt for the next closest voltage setting? Or am I just wasting my time. Anybody out there have suggestions or tricks up their sleeves? I will be your best friend forever. Thanks for any help. |

It appears that the MB only supports up to a 333Mhz CPU. You want a 450Mhz CPU you need a different MB... |

I am now using the K6-2 on a tx97-xe motherboard running at 458MHz. It seems to be very stable. I have put the voltage to 2.5V (settings are printed on the board), bus to 83MHz(2-1-1) and 5,5 times internal clocking (1-1-2). Good luck. |

You can make the AMD K6-2 400-> run at 500MHz by setting the mb clock multiplier to 2. The processor will remap this to 6, and 6x83.3 equals 500MHz By the way, is it possible to configure the ASUS TX97-XE cpu voltage to 2.2V? please mail me if you know.. --- torbjorn.wahlstrom@nokia.com |
