when I try to install my TELES ISDN adapter by using the 'new hardware' feature the system locks up (i.e. the automatic new hardware wizard doesn't work). Is it possible in windows 98 to select new hardware manually ? or has it something to do with my motherboard (asus P2L97)

Are you sure it is not just your mouse that isn't working.
On my wife's computer, when it does the plug & pray search the mouse locks up, but once it has finished the searching it works again.
Try waiting to see if it continues the search, then when it asks a question that would normally require clicking on something, press TAB to see if you can select different options. |
