first of all make sure your shutting down your computer through the start menu. If it's shut down improperly then it will always come up with the boot menu. Now if you are shutting it down properly then you'll need to check your msdos.sys file. It's a hidden, read only file in the root c:. there should be some lines of just x's after some text. At the bottom of the x's or even possibly the top check for a line that start's with "bootmenu".(without quotes) After that should either be a one or a zero. Change it to whatever it isn't. (if it's a one then change it to a zero. If it's a zero then change it to a one.) If this doesn't fix the problem then you'll have to change the number back.
Before you can do any of this though you'll have to go to the properties on the file and make it so it's not readonly and then change it back afterwards.

Now for the windows logon. Try instead of pushing cancel puting in a user name and having no password. This should make it so it ask for the password again and all you have to do is press enter again.

I hope this helps.

Another solution is to download Powertoys.exe from
Microsoft. On of the toys is called "tweak ui". It
allows you to manipulate these settings and many
others from the control panel in win95 or nt. Very
nice add-on.

allow me to add my two cents worth. The Tweakui is a great solution because Charlie wont have to go in and manually edit msdos.sys. But be careful Microsoft came out with a new TweakUI for Win98, I don't believe it is in the Powertoy Package any more. You can download it from various sites like (www1.winfiles.com/apps/98/powertoys.html)its last on the list.
ALSO it is on the Windows 98 CD in the following Dir: /tool/reskit/powertoys.

Next: When Win asks for your password enter your name in the user field then press Enter for the password. The next time you re-start it shouldn't ask again.

I neglected to mention, once you have TweakUI installed in the Control Panel, find the BOOT index tab. Thats where you tell Not to boot to the Boot menu every time. If you don't see the Boot index tab use the SMALL left, Right arrows in the upper right corner of the TweakUI Menu to scroll to the right till you find it.

HP Scanjet Model: C6270C/Product Name:HP Scanjet6200C.

This device is out of adjustment. I need to reset belt properly, it has slipped and its "fixing" may have moved too inside the scanhead. It has slipped on pulleys.
