I was told by a tech that my computer wasn't fried(i thought it was), and that the BIOS might have just been deleted. I have an HP Brio. The hard drive and the fan respond. But the floppy doesn't! i thought i could just try a system disk, but it doesn't help without a floppy reading the disk. There was a problem when i plugged in the computer, it would come on without pressing the switch and it would stay on. I changed the CMOS jumper and it wouldn't come on until you pressed the switch, but it would still stay on. Is there anybody out there that can help me? My e-mail address is airwolf123@hotmail.com, my ICQ # is 26831043, and my AOL IM screenname is Airwolf647. Somebody please help me! Thank you! |

first of all, you failed to mention if you could boot up off your hard drive let alone your floppy. have you tried using another floppy cable in place of your original cable? do you hear any beep(s) when you power on you machine. if you don't hear any beeps then your mobo is probably dead. |

I lost my BIOS on an ASUSTEK board, had to use another computer with a similar board and hot flashed the bios, Where you boot to dos on the new computer , pull the bios chip, put in the bad one, and flash it with their utility. |
