Have an hp pavillion 8260. The bootable cd-rom is going bad and need to replace. The only place I can find one is through hp and they want the insane privce of $ 175 plus. I have tried other distributers and the are not much help when it comes to the term bootable. Does anyone know of a spec that i can use to descibe bootable or a distributer or manufacturer of bootable cd-rom drives. |

it should not matter whether your cd rom drive is bootable or not. the question is whether your computer's bios can support booting off your cd rom(first boot device is cd rom) and whether the cd you are using is a bootable disk |
