Just putting together a new system. Acer Open, AMD K6 2 350MHz, AOpen Pentium 100 MHz AGP ATX Mainboard, 64 MB PC100 SDRAM DIMM. Hard drive is a Quantum Fireball EX 6.4 GB. Formatted drive using the Quantum OnTrack install software (latest version from website). Format looks OK. Auto drive detect in CMOS OK. Set to boot A,C,CD. Bootup will not recognize hard drive and returns invalid disk notice. Tried to install another hard drive that I had on the shelf (formatted with Windows installed), won't boot to it either. Gotta missed something or be doin' something wrong ! Any ideas, hints, or just plain HELP! |

Try manually setting the disk parameters in setup, and not using auto setup. Just an opinion...Fdisk and format with DOS while in THAT system, not the Ontrack software. |

When you start up the computer check that the imfomation that auto install has found has been put in right to the standard cmos setup(first line at the cmos start up screen)you can set this to auto will help to If that is right then boot of a:drive with a boot disk and the file fdisk.exe and format.exe on it and then fdisk or run Quantum setup program from A: drive the other thing to check is that lba is showen in the standard cmos setup screen. |
