I have a cd burner but have no idea how to make a CD bootable. I tried just putting the system files on it but that doesn't work. thanks |

HI! You should read your CD burning software documentation for doing this. Copying system files to CD is not enough. The CD must be marked as a bootable CD and then it can act as a bootable floppy for the BOOT process (but hold much additional data ofcourse). Not all CD burning software support creating bootable CD Adaptech EZCD can do it. Not all computers support booting from CD, and those that do support it, are not always configured to boot from CD. Here's something to try. Go to your dos prompt and type sys a: to put the system files onto a blank floppy. Then copy those files to the files your going to burn on the cd. After you have the cd then go to your system bios or cmos setup and make sure your boot sequence has the cdrom set to boot before the hard drive. Hope this helps |
