I recently installed a network card on my Acer 366Mhz with 32 megs ram running Win98. After installing the card, I was getting page faults every time I ran quake, quake 2, descent, etc. Most games won't run on my computer now. But if I take the card out, the games run fine. I got upgraded to 64 megs of ram, but that didn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm about ready to give up on having the comp networked but I'd really like to get it to work. |

Look for an IRQ conflict. Most NE2000 (10 base t) cards demand IRQ 5 address 0300. Unfortunately, most sound cards want IRQ 5 as well. Use control panel/system/devicemanager/properties to reassign the sound card's IRQ to 7. On most PC's this works... |
