I just installed win 98 on a gateway g6 and now windows
shows an error which says my computer is reporting 2
pci.vxd bus types and that I should update my bios. I got the latest
update and installed it and I still have the same problem. I
also cleared all the multiple instances in device manager but
still no good. Anyone got any ideas?

Second edition, full install.
I've tried a few other things but still no luck.

There are some known issues when installing the full edition of Win98 on top of Win95. This is gonna suck, but the only thing I can think of that might work will be reformatting and reinstalling Win98 from scratch. Hope you have a zip drive or burner to back up data. Before you do this, check around... hopefully I am wrong about this being the only solution. |
