I have 2 PCs and I connected them with 2 ACER 100Mb ethernet NICs. Both PCs running Win98 and I used a crossed-over CAT5 cable to connect them running peer to peer. Sharing file is ok but I have a couple of problems I wish to fix but I could not. The first problem is; my first PC is a 300A running overclocked to 450. After I put in the NIC card I found out the PC stucked for around 20 to 30 second during the Net startup. I used dedicated IP address already (ie. 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2). I could not figure out what is missing here. The second problem is when I shutdown or powerup or down one of the PC while the other is running. I noticed there was some holding of the other pc for a couple of seconds. When I unhooked them I didnot experience the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks. paulR |

Are you using client32 or client for Novell? These two will cause a hang up when you boot and shutdown. Also check your irq's for your nic cards. If it's shared with something else that can also cause it to hang. Hope this helps |
