I just installed a MX300 Diamond Monster sound card nto my 400mzP2MMX HP Pavillion. When windows comes up, thew error message reads that the card isn't working properly or installed incorrectly, or that the software doesn't have the specific information for the hardware. When I go into device manager, it will not load the drivers from the CD, windows98, or windows update, no matter how I direct the computer. Does anyone have any suggestions, please???

Sorry....in my experience HP's are dogs (nice printers though!!). Your Win98 CD is likely to be a proprietary one with customised drivers for the hardware in your HP machine.....Try using a friends SE disk to do a clean install and watch your Pavillion spit the dummy!! It must be fairly new and under warranty.......ask HP or your dealer if there's an incompatability issue with the MX300
