I just built a computer for the firts time and was
very happy that it did not EXPLODE when I booted it
up for the first time. However I do not get any kind
of video output. I dont know if I have a bad video card
if something else could be causing this. also, when it
boots I get 2 beeps and the floppy drive will not stop
running. I have a Intel SE440BX2 motherboard and a
Matrox400 AGP video card. Can anyone help me with
this please?

If the floppy light comes on as soon as you power
up and stays on until you power down, you probably
have the ribbon cable on backwards. As for the beeps,
try disconnecting everything from the motherboard but
the power connector, memory, and video card/monitor.
No hard drive cables, floppy, zip drive, mouse,
keyboard, cd-rom, sound card, modem, joystick, etc.
Reseat the memory, making sure to
use the minimum you can, in the first socket. This last
is important. Some boards use the 0, 1, 2, etc.
convention, others use the 1, 2, 3, etc. Use the first
socket on your board and if your configuration
requires PC 100 RAM, make sure that yours is compliant.
If your motherboard requires you to set jumpers for
system speed, clock multiplier, and CPU voltage,
double check to make certain that you both: have the
correct settings, and have implemented them correctly
on your board. If you have more than one DIMM, try
using each one by itself.
If you get a boot with video, try adding
things back one at a time, rebooting between each
successful addition, until you find the culprit.
You can even pull the video card out, and see if you
get a single beep, which is usually a sign of a
successful boot. |

I had the same problem.. found out it was the cable connected to the floopy drive was wrong way round on the mobo.. also the memory was at fault. |

check your ram as the two beeps mean that it isnt seated |
