GeForce will be faster, John Carmack of Quake fame says it's the fastest he's ever seen. When DirectX 7 games come out that support hardware transform & lighting, it'll really scream. Only downsides are waiting 2-4 weeks (assuming nothing goes really wrong) to buy, the hefty cost, it sounds as if it runs HOT, and you'll be updating drivers regularly. If any of that matters to you then it would be fine to pick up a cheap TNT2 and later upgrade to GeForce (along with a new mobo that supports AGP4X). That's what I'm going to do. Creative was bought by lame chipmaker S3 and already there's complaints that Creative isn't updating their drivers much. So maybe buy a TNT2 card from Asus or Guillemot or whomever. |

I don't beleive creative Labs was bought by S3 (creater of the savage) Diamond Multimedia was purchased by S3 after the creation of the Diamond Viper V770 Ultra which does already support the agp4x. The Drivers aren't a problem with them either. The problem people are running into with the v770 is that you have to have the irq for agp enabled in the bios to make it work. Now S3 is also hardly a lame chipset maker. Now they are no Nvidia or 3DFX but then again you can purchase their cards for about $100 less. |

I'm running the viper v770 ultra now and it's just flying through everything on my machine. (P2400, 256meg ram, aopen ax6b mainboard) I've never seen the g-force work so I can't say anything about it but I know the v770 has frame rates second only to the Hercules tnt2 ultra and that's only a few frames per second. When your already getting 80 frames per second what's one or two more, you know. |
