I have a Zida 5Stx board with Award Bios. Pentium 166 MMX with 2x16 mb Edo Ram.
I have problems with Internal Cache and External Cache.
When I make these settings enabled in the BIOS. The problems occur.

Internal Cache External Cache
--------------------------------------------
Enabled Enabled or Disabled The monitor flicks after boot and resets itself. (with DOS 6.22)
( Hard disk not connected booting from floppy)

Note: There is no other card installed on the mother board except S3 Virge 2Mb SVGA card.

If both are disabled it works for some time and while doing a long or hard operation it again locks or resets.

If anyone can help e I will be happy thanks
Dave

Try a different video card that you know to work.
I use a trusty old Trident ISA card when in doubt.
You could have bad RAM as well. Try reseating the
modules. Good luck
