i am looking at buying a dell computer with a celleron processor to run cakewalk and other music programs using midi.

Hey Jon, I used to sell the two processors, The primary differents in the two processors is the celleron has less L1 cache usally 128K
There for the processor has less cache to work in. So in effect a 400MHZ celeron compaired to a PIII 400MHZ will not run truly a 400MHZ performance compaired to the PIII. The reason the celeron was created was to be able to compete with low prices processors like the CYrix and AMD, Although in a lot of ways now AMD is crushing Intel.
