A buddy of mine came over to get his PC reformatted coz it was plagued with viruses. I did it and loaded Win 98 for him. I didn't know that his mobo had both graphics and audio cards incorporated onto it. At bootup, he was stuck with 16 colours, and no sound! I felt like ••••.
He had lost his mobo CD driver, and i went looking to download it from the net. The mobo was FORCOM, I asked them for help they directed me to SIS (Silicon Intregrated Systems) to download the chipset all-in-one driver (48Mb of it). Help me here, chipset drivers and mobo drivers aren't the same are they? What do I do to recitfy the problem please. All help appreciated large. If it suits, please email me your sugestions, but I will pop by to checks for replies anyway. Thanks. |

It would sure help to know what SiS chipset is on the board in your case. And yes motherboard and chipset drivers can be the same thing on an integrated system. |

chipset drivers are only part of the download you'd need in this case. if it has onboard graphics, sound, etc., you need to download the rest for the motherboard. in the old days, motherboard drivers were primarily for the motherboard itself, not graphics, etc. |

dear E.S and win, thanks so much for ure replies. i forgot to say that me mate's mobo chipset was indeed a SiS 630. thanks again for ure imput. tomorrow i flood 48 Mb's of downloaded stuff onto me mate's pc. wish us luck!

when I try to go to my computer or settings i get a message saying explore exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows will restart the program an error log is being created. Whats going on. Jen |
