I know this may sound a daft thing, but I have just fought tooth and nail and shelled out £30 on a new BIOS chip for a Microstar 6156 motherboard. The problem is quite simply this:... which way do I need to install the new chip??. (My first attempt ended up as a fried chip!). Where can I get hold of an actual JPG picture file displaying the actual BIOS chip in all it's glory?. I've spent hours surfing the net to no avail!. Any pictures would be most appreciated, so that I won't end up with a burnt out chip for the 2nd time!. The name's Ian and the email's idj20@aol.com |

Pin 1 of the chip is left of the U shaped notch at the top of the chip. Pin one of the socket should be denoted by an arrow or some other identifying mark. You may have to get a flashlight and try to peer under the socket as it may be covering the symbol. |
