I recently bought some new memory for my system on eBay. I have an ECS K7SOM+ 7.5a motherboard. It's max for memory is 1GB and thats what I bought- A single PC2100 1GB DIMM. The manual didn't say anything that would lead me to believe that it would be incompatlibe, but when I installed it, the system wouldn't boot up. If I install the new memory and leave the original 128MB DIMM in place, the system boots up but will not start windows- in fact it freezes at the system info display. When frozen on this screen it displays that I have 1200MB(approx) installed memory- I think it's mocking me. What should I do? I'm no computer expert, but I've upgraded memory before without incident. Any help from you smart folks would be appreciated! |

The 2 dimm slots leads me to believe the board will only accept a maximum of 2X512Meg sticks for the 1gig max memory. |
