Hi! After I've opened my pc to check something, I only get a black screen at startup. (The monitor still works fine with another pc.) One time, I could see a message(?) box appearing in the middle of the screen, but it was very vage and faded out immediately. I think that the pc is starting as usual, as I recognise the sounds (but I'm not sure). But there were some extra loud beeps in the beginning. They told me it could be the video card. I have an integrated one, so I've just put an extra one in a slot. It didn't change anything. I have the feeling that it is something stupid. What could I have disconnected accidently? Did I insert the videocard in the wrong way? What was this message that disappeared? What could I do to check? Thanks |

First off, depending on your system, you may have to change a jumper setting on the motherboard to disable the 'on-board' video before inserting a slot card. Secondly, those "extra loud beeps" are actually telling you what's wrong. Try http://www.bioscentral.com/ to find out what beeps mean. |
