Hello, sound card - Nightingale pro 6 (trying to install on system). current sound card on system is an onboard SiS 7018 (it is built into the motherboard, it think) System - windows xp, on a AMD athalon 1.2ghz. I have been trying to get a Nightingale optical pro 6 PCI sound card to work (it has optical in/out etc all the mod cons) But it has messed my system up a bit and isn't working... and has stopped my on-board SiS7018 sound card from working correctly. Now my sis7018 wont show up on the sound & audio devices as an active sound card. (I've taken the nightingale sound card out of my system, that didnt get picked up as an active sound device either, even with the up-todate xp drivers form the website.) Its enabled in bios, and the drivers are up-todate, & are the ones that last worked... they are digitaly signed by microsoft for XP In the properties in device manager it is enabled, but states "not been started" but its all enabled in windows & bios! So now i have no sound, or the sound contol (the little icon of a speaker on the task bar is not there) Though i can still get sound... but only through the internal modem (for some odd reason) but i cant open the sound control mixer to change volume levels etc, or use sound recorder in windows. I can upload screenshots if it shows the problem more clearly. my e-mail address inzane_deep_purple@hotmail.com |
