Im new to this, and im ignorant to motherboards. apparently my mother board has a problem. the computer locked up during the night while running maintanence (system suite 5)and took out my hard drive. since, ive installed a different hard drive that i know works, it was a slave in one of our other computers. when i try to reformat the drive, it runs for days, it appears to go for about 20 seconds, then takes a 2 minute break, then continues loading for another 20 seconds on and on. it is amazingly slow. i changed the jumper settings on the hard drive to the master setting before attempting to reformat. i am assuming that something on the mother board went bad? if this sounds correct, i would like to go to a better mother board that comes with a better processor. these emachines seem to be a goofy piece, i have no clue as to what other board will fit it. i know its a socket 370 and i know my current power supply is 120 watts which i may upgrade as well. im not looking to polish a turd here, so just a board of todays technology under 130 dollars would be fine. if anyone can suggest something that will fit without being a nightmare i would greatly appreciate it. any other specs on this machine can be found at http://parts.emachines.com/emachines/sys_lookup.asp thank you for your help, its appreciated very much.
