Hi just wondering if someone can help.

I've got an XP2400+ and currently using ddr 266mhz RAM. If i swapped the ram for some faster ie 333 or 400 ram, would the ram run at full speed or will it still only run at 266mhz?

i say this as i'm sure the processer runs on a 133/266mhz bus and I can never remember if the processer bus speed dictates the memory speed too.

can't remember exact motherboard model if that makes any diff, but its a soltek one and definately supports up to 400mhz.

333 or 400 memory by default will only run at CPU front side bus speed and that in your case is 266. However, some boards will allow asynchronous memory speeds which might improve memory bandwidth, something you can check into.
