Hi, I have an IBM ThinkPad A20M type 2628 laptop. The keyboard broke on it so bought a replacement keyboard. I have tried to open the laptop so that I can put the new keyboard into the laptop. Cannot get it open. I called IBM and they wanted to charge me $25 a minute to help open the laptop. Please advise as to how I can open this laptop so that I can install the keyboard. Thanks |

Hiyas, Got one too. i always place a napkin or washcloth(dry) on the keyboards before i loosen any screws so as to avoid damage. Looking from the bottom with the laptop closed, there will be three screws that have identical indicators, 2 little triangles or angles, pointing at them. after you remove these three identical screws you will have a free edged keyboard. I tilt the unit after opening it so as to be able to get a hold of the corner of the keyboard and lift out. there is a little bit of plug pressure holding it in the center, but it should easily lift straight out. you may have to plink up on the mouse buttons to get it to give you a corner to lift from. |
