New memory

hello everybody,
my computer brand is 'emachines'.intel p-4, with win xp, sp2. motherboard model is sis-650 [L4S5MG]. i have 256mb [pc2100] memory, but i installed 128mb [pc2100].manual describes i can increase the memory up to 2GB. but the problem is, windows does not recognize new memory.no error messeges, no 'beeps'.nothing !! what can i update in the 'setup' programme in order to windows to recognize new memory? please help me.

There is not any *update* in setup to make the new memory detect. This is one of those cases where it works or it doesn't.
